2016 februárjában ismét hazánkba látogat a Richard Challoner Theatre Company. Az elmúlt évtizedben sikert sikerre halmoztak előadásaikkal melyet angol nyelven tekinthetnek meg a nézők.
A társulat fiatalokból áll, akik a klasszikus művet az eredetihez híven vitték színpadra. Az előadás kiváló lehetőség az angol nyelv gyakorlására, az előadás után lehetőség nyílik beszélgetésre is az angol színészekkel. RICHARD CHALLONER THEATRE COMPANY (UK) IN SOPHOCLES’ ‘ANTIGONE’ Richard Challoner Theatre Company return to the IBS theatre this February, with an English version of the classic Greek tragedy ‘Antigone’ by Sophocles.
After the death of their father Oedipus, Antigone and her sister decide to return to Thebes only to find that their brothers Eteocles and Polyneices have been killed. Eteocles has been given a proper burial, but Creon, Antigone's uncle who has inherited the throne, has issued a royal edict banning the burial of Polyneices, who he believes was a traitor. Faced with what she believes to be a great injustice, Antigone buries her brother against Creon's decree and is sentenced to death. With her execution looming the people of Thebes and Creon's own son Haemon (who is due to marry Antigone) try to convince the stubborn king to reverse his decision, before it is too late... RICHARD CHALLONER THEATRE COMPANY are annual visitors to the IBS and last appeared in ‘THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR’ in February 2015. They are based at Richard Challoner High School in West London and have previously presented ‘Hamlet’ (2012);‘Macbeth’ (2013) and ‘Romeo and Juliet’ at the IBS. They also presented ‘Oedipus’ by Sophocles in 2005.
